Inspired by History

In 1591 the estate played host to the Elvetham Entertainment. Arranged for Queen Elizabeth I, the four day spectacle was one of the most exciting and lavish events of her reign.

Our Sylvanus Restaurant is named after one of the mythological creatures from the entertainments grand water pageant, Silvanus, the Roman god of woods, wildlands and pastures. Introducing himself as a devoted servant of Queen Elizabeth, his performance was designed to praise the queen's wise leadership over her land based commanders and naval captains during the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

Today our Sylvanus Restaurant is a nod towards that memorable performance almost 500 years ago in a hope to keep the tale of that event alive in the history of the English monarchy.

Book with peace of mind - The Elvetham has installed Clenzair units within our Winter Conservatory, Oak Room, Library, Sylvanus Restaurant and Gloriana Bar to protect the health of our guests. These state of the art units use Needlepoint Bipolar Ionisation technology, eliminating bacteria and viruses in the air.

A culinary experience to remember. Sample our delicious seasonal menu, made with the finest ingredients by our experienced chefs. 

 

We have a variety of dishes available to suit any appetite and are able to cater to all food requirements with advanced notice. 

 

Dinner serice 6pm to 9:30pm.

Lunch service between 12:30pm to 2:30pm with a reduced menu.

Table bookings are recommended to ensure availability.

Sunday Lunch

 

Enjoy the homely cooking of our Sunday Lunch Roast Menu. We are very excited about this excellent addition to our restaurant offerings, providing a delicious and comforting Sunday Roast in the beautiful setting of The Elvetham estate.

 

Available Sundays between 12pm and 2.30pm, booking ahead of time is required.
